For those among us with a slight inclination towards nostalgia, remember that it's full name is "4711 Echt Kölnisch Wasser" (4711 Real Cologne Water). Köln (Cologne in english) is a german city, and the home of the original cologne, which (probably) is this very fragrance. Made for over 200 years, and still in production. Like most of the very old concoctions, it is citrus based and was probably intended to be a refreshing balm more than a lasting fragrance, originally. The line of fine men that used this product is very very long.
Incidentally, all fragrances were unisex, back in the day. The notion that some fragrances were unsuitable for men was conceived by Napoleon, who would fine his officers if they wore anything he did not approve.

I start to use it few months ago. The AS scent is very nice but EDC scent is little bit femine for me.

I've actually seen it in local Walmarts. Not all of them have it but some do. Large bottle blue label, clear liquid inside. Looks more like a liquor bottle than what you would typically associate with cologne. A fifth of 4711 will set you back about 12 bucks

4711 is also available at a large number of online perfume vendors such as Fragrance.net.

I got a little excited when I saw this thread. I've been wearing 4711 for about two years now and LOVE the stuff--permanent part of my staple.

Glad I found this old thread. I saw folks discussing 4711 on another forum. Spotted a 50ml bottle at an antique store. For $3 I got my sample bottle. Yes to light citrus scent that fades quickly. So light I wondered if the bottle had been refilled with something else. After reading reviews I'm guessing it's the original contents. Reminds me of another Olde Time formula; M&L's Florida water.
To deobfuscate is to convert something that is difficult to un͝d̡͝e҉͞r̴͝st̨̕a͘͢n̢̛d̕̕ ̧͝
into one that is simple, understandable and straightforward.

No matter what others think or says, if one like the scent one should wear it.
We all have different taste and what some say is old lady smell doesn't matter.
By the way here are some facts about EDT or "toilet water" as it is refereed to in some context

Yup, light citrus scent that fades quickly is about it for 4711. Kind of refreshing really.
