    Default 4711 anyone?

I have gotten some 4711 aftershave, supposedly the original Cologne maker in the world, dating back to 1709... Anyone else try it? I'm giving it a shot tonight.

I've used 4711 cologne/aftershave off and on for many years. The scent is nice, but not overpowerinng. I prefer using it during spring/summer.

Glad to see that you like it too.

Can you describe the scent a bit?

    Default 4711 anyone?

    Gentlemen,

I have used 4711 cologne in the past and liked it for its pleasant citrus notes that do quite well in the summer. It's a refreshing cologne, although as with many aftershaves and colognes with high citrus notes, the fragrance is short lived. It is reasonably priced, too. Good stuff.

    Regards,
    Obie

The scent in itself is nice enough, but no lad in his right mind would use it over here: at least in my country it is associated with geriatric ladies only, who use it in such copious amounts that 4711 has become the quintessential 'old ladies' smell'.

I'm afraid that is the case over here in Norway as well.
In fact, if someone accidentaly breaks wind in the company of others, it is usually referred to as a "4711"
Mind you, I'm not trying to make fun of anyone, or the scent of 4711, it is just what I see and hear around me here.

Ah...the Europeans have saved us from ourselves, once again. Rofl.

    Many thanks,
