Musgo Real Aftershave
Tried Musgo Real aftershave this morning. Once it started to dry it was like glue on my face. At first I thought I'd done something wrong so I washed my face and reapplied the aftershave. Same result. I washed it off again and used another aftershave. This is my first use of this aftershave and I'm a little disappointed. I probably won't use it again.

lfloyd,
This is a complete coincidence, but I used Musgo Real for the very first time this morning as well! I paired it with the Musgo Real shaving cream, which I rinsed off before applying the aftershave.
I got a really nice feeling out of it, but I gotta tell you, this stuff smells terrible. I didn't get a hint of patchouli and/or vetiver, which I was really looking forward to. Just smells like an old man taking a pottery class.
I didn't get the "glue" feeling; however, maybe it was reacting with your cream/soap residuals?

I love this stuff. Especially during winter. Definitely more of an old world scent though. The heavier feel is apparently caused by the lanolin in the recipe. Give it a little time to dry down and your face should be soft & moisturized.

I like the Musgo Real aftershave balm, but I do agree with you that it feels like "glue" after you apply it. I still will continue to use it in my rotation, but it does leave a sticky, heavy feeling on my skin. With that, however, it is very moisturizing and leaves my skin feeling repaired after a rough shave.
My go to aftershave balm is Institut Karite which I use almost everyday. It is the perfect consistency, absorbs quickly and is not heavy on the skin at all. The shea butter gives the perfect amount of moisture to the skin. Try it!Last edited by Fbones24; 11-10-2010 at 05:50 PM.

I don't like it. I like the scent but you need to use it very sparingly. The stuff contains beeswax and that's why it feels the way it does when you put it on. I found it never seemed to dry no matter how little I put on.

Musgo Real
Thanks for the reply's. I got this bottle at Evelyn and Crabtree. Not chaep. I'd like to like this stuff. It doesn't smell to bad to me. But tacky feeling it leaves on my face is just more than I can stand. I'm not sure it would ever subside. Anyway, guess I've got a small anchor now.

Musgo Real Aftershave
Gentlemen:
I'm afraid I can't offer an opinion on the Musgo Real Aftershave.
Several years ago, I let Musgo Real shave cream torch my skin for three unpleasant shaves before burying the tube in the garbage can.
Since then the mere mention of Musgo Real compels me to call the fire department. Oy!
Regards,
Obie

Thanked: 1195I have to say I love the stuff. The scent is masculine yet unassuming, and it is the most moisturizing AS I've come across yet. Yes there is a bit of a sticky feeling after it is initially applied, but it doesn't take long to fade. Once it settles it leaves me face feeling BBS even if technically my shave wasn't. Oh well, YMMV.

Hi,
The stickiness comes for the high glycerin content; put about half a teaspoon of water in the pamm of your hand, add the Musgo AS to it, then apply to chops - works a treat.
For me, the Musgo AS is one of the nicest fragrances out there.
Got to go to my pottery class now
Have fun !
Best regards

Musgo Real Aftershave
Well gents, it appears there are some differing facts on why the Musgo AS is so tacky on application: beeswax, lanolin and high glycerin content. Who knows? It may well contain all three. I suppose I'll give the stuff one more try and this time try giving it a much longer period of dry time to see if the tackiness subsides. I may even try water in the palm of my hand as suggested by PhatMan. It's worth a try. I'd like to get my money's worth from the product, though that's not always possible. Guess this is what makes wet shaving as much an adventure as it is another way to shave the face.
