What do you do when your cuts turn to scars?
Does anyone have any suggestions for getting rid of facial scars? Some of my little cuts are now little scars and, though they're not very big, I'm still sort of self-conscious of them.

Thanked: 1262Make up a better story than "I cut myself shaving and forgot to put neosporin on it" for when people ask about it.....

Gents,
The only way to get rid of some scars is plastic surgery, deep wound scars or those of injuries where there was a loss of tissue are like diamonds, but cheaper.
Mederma and other like concoctions do exactly nothing except "reduce the appearance of scars" (this is straight from their website). That's what a great American* once characterized as 'weasel words'. Their promotional materials also rely heavily on testimonials, the barely legal alternative to the truth, and usually qualified with "results not typical" or "results may vary" - more weasel words. Similar things can be said of their stretch marks product.
Still there's hope. Small scars like the ones you describe are very young, and are still healing. Primary healing goes on for about a year - that's right, a whole mothershaving year - and reabsorption of the tissue goes on for life. As time goes by they will become less conspicuous, especially if you don't tan.
Just love your scars. The ladies love them.
* That would be Teddy Roosevelt, who I'm sure shaved with a straight or failing that a sharpened bear claw, although I've not checked it out.Last edited by Snake; 02-23-2011 at 06:17 PM. Reason: Mispelled Teddy's last name, and I was afraid he'd come to get me. Yep, he was bada$$.

Huh, didn't know that about healing. I'm not exactly sure the ladies would love a scar that's obviously a shaving scar (they're all on my chin which I often accidentally cut if I'm not paying good enough attention). So if it's still healing (and these are very small, only about a centimeter or so) would just keeping neosporin on it help still?

my fiance used it on a scar she got from a burn and its helped to reduce it. It was a pretty dark and very noticeable scar but now it looks alot better.
Maybe it just varies by user but it worked for herShaving_story on Instagram

Hopefully this may help for you, I haven't tried, and I am not a doctor, but this information seems like it could be very useful. (link below)
