I used to get really bad razor burn and skin irritation back in the M3 days, and when I moved to a DE I tried a whole load of conditioners and stuff.
Out of all of the ones I tried, Trumpers skin food was by far the best. Non greasy, smells great (especially in sandalwood IMO) and is amazingly soothing.
Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

Hello, cjglancy:
My after-the-shave process is the following: warm water rinse, alum block application, cold rinse about a minute later, Super Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera, aftershave balm and finally aftershave for the day.
For the aftershave balm I use Coral Skin Food by Trumper's and aftershave balm by Institute Karite. I find those two to be the best I have used.
Regards,
Obie

I do pretty much the same as everyone else with a good rinse then use the alum block all over, but I stopped using afteshave balms because my skin would still dry out. I now use Jojoba oil mixed with an essential oil. For the summer I use Lime essential oil. Jojoba oil is supposed to be the closest to the oil your skin produces so my face never dries out anymore.

Thanked: 33One of the Best aftershave conditioner's I've used comes from AVON. It is by far the thickest and riches product I've used. And to top if off it is extremely affordable. It's most of the time on sale for 1.99 for 100mls. The only problem is it has Avon's scents, but the scent disappears quickly.

Hmm. Wow, what an informative thread! I feel obligated to contribute. I think (still theory) that the alum I have, which is intended for arm pits, is a bit harsh as a post-shave alum block, however, it does seem to accomplish what it was designed to do, which is kill the little bad guys that could grow in my skin. This helps keep my complexion clear. I am fond of weight training and am biking quite aggressively this summer, and the androgen levels climb up as a result, giving all the fun bacteria lots of yummy Axel grease to sip on. Using the alum block seems to help, though I have to rinse it off, leaving it on for too long is not good for my skin. Interesting to hear it helps with eczema!

There are several aftershave balms that I use--Nivea for Men, Anherb Natural Aftershave Conditioner (both creams), Vitrex and Visal (gels).
They all either have no girly smell (Nivea) or a nice masculine fragrance. The Anherb, Vitrex and Visal are great for summer because they have menthol in the formulation."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain
