NOT THE COLOGNE! ANYTHING BUT THE COLOGNE!
So I recently bought one of those Old Spice twin packs, you know the one that comes with both the cologne and the aftershave.
Well, the Cologne is in a bottle pretty much identical to the aftershave but slightly smaller. Unless they were side by side you really wouldn't be able to tell the difference without reading the label. As it turns out the cologne is most definitely NOT the same as the aftershave!
After finishing my shave tonight I reached blindly into the cabinet and produced the cologne. I put it on.
Oh dear lord the pain! It was like lava on my face! And it's not short lived like the pain of aftershave, five minutes later and it still burned! Peri-Peri would burn less!
Definitely won't be repeating this experience again... I'll be moving the cologne as soon as I can move the left side of my face again

Get over it...
Contrary to cork sniffer abuse - Old Spice products are top notch and there's probably a good reason they've been around for more than a hundred years.
Anytime you don't get a good 'sting' when applying an aftershave product take a belt sander to your face and try it again.
I can't wait until you apply a stiptic pencil to a gash on your face. If you ever stop screaming like a little girl we'll be happy to hear of your experience.

Actually you misread, I didn't use the aftershave I used the cologne, which is NOT intended for shaving.

I've been there. When I first started, I had a similar thing except mine was intentional and oh boy did that sting. Once I got my technique correct that sting will go away.
Don't let others discourage you, it's a learning process and we are all here to help... even if some don't admit to making some of the same mistakes new guys do.

Thanked: 69i made a mistake when i was about 12-13 and used cologne for a *(kinda sorta) body spray.........
the screams still echo in my ears and dreams.....
we ain't discouraging him..... we are poking a bit of good natured fun because we have all done something similar and survived *(altho with my application of that brut cologne to my nether regions i was doubtful of my survival for ~20 mins or so....)

Thanked: 1195I'll man up and admit that I've done it too. But it wasn't my fault, I swear......
Many years ago I asked for a bottle of English Leather AS for Christmas. I'd used it before, but could never understand why this bottle stung like the dickens and dried my face right up. Then I flipped the bottle upside down and saw the "Cologne" sticker....
So I'll agree, it sucks as an aftershave, but makes for a great cologne
