Thanked: 2I'm working my way through Bert's ASB. It's tolerable when I use a splash of witch hazel before applying, and near useless by itself.
I agree that this is one of those marketing things. I ended up with this because SWMBO loves all Bert's products. Really a shame it's not so good as it has a nice earthy smell and is widely available.

I'll give the witch hazel thing a try to see if I can use it up..
Love love love the smell of the stuff, but the now decidedly greasy mess it leaves on my hands is a dealbreaker.

I just recently purchased some Burt's Bees Aftershave for around $6 at Publix grocery. I find after I use an alum block my face dries out quick and a sparingly minuscule amount on two fingers blends well with my Taylor's of Old Bond St. Shaving cream but too much is a mess. I enjoy the Burgamont in it but I would much prefer using a matching aftershave if not for the price .
