Thanked: 34Any one else find Trumper's Skin Food to make them itchy as heck?
I bought a bottle of Trumpers Skin Food a while back and really enjoy the sandalwood scent. It seems like very high quality stuff, and is very well respected across the boards. For some strange reason i believe my body reacts to it, as if i use the skin food my face gets horribly itchy for the entire day. I don't break out, or any other allergic type reaction symptoms just itch and itch and itch, and i really am not allergic to anything that i know of. I can use pinud, bay rum, porasso and almost all the others I have tried with no problem but as soon as I rub in the skin food itch city. It's a shame has any one else had a similar experience.

That's weird as the ingredients in so many of these products are pretty much the same. I'll try to help you out and let you send it to me so I can dispose of it for you.

Thanked: 48I had terrible allergic reaction to it myself, the sandalwood version atleast. Same as you, itching all day. And if I persist in using it a few shaves in a row like over a week by the end of it I am deep in razor burn which takes a week of not shaving to come out of.

Just started using it myself, for the first time today. Came highly reccommended by a "Mentor" member, when I was looking for a Post shave cream/lotion that didn't leave that oily/greasy feel on my face all day. The Trumpers Skin Food does just that, without any itching problems. Can't say I care for the Sandlewood smell, so I'm trying the Coral on my next go round. I like the Trumpers, as I don't have ANY oily/greasy feel on my face all day. Others I used that did were, "Real Shaving Co", "Every Man Jack" and Nivia Q-10. The "Real Shave Co." actually left my face with a burning sentation all day. Only used it once. Love the Trumpers.

Thanked: 4942I have fairly sensitive skin (Dad was a redhead) and I have been using the Coral Skin Food for years without any problems. Never tried the Sandalwood. I know some soaps like one particular Vanilla cream, make my face burn like crazy. Then a Vanilla Bourbon glycerine is fine.

Thanked: 1195Definitely an allergic reaction, which is curious because the ingredients of Skin Food are very minimal - basically just glycerin and rose water. But if it's causing you misery there's no sense using it. PIF it or sell it off and move on.
EDIT - I just reread the OP and realized he was talking specifically about the Sandalwood version, not the Coral. Since I have not used the Sandalwood I can't comment on it, but my guess would be the offending culprit is the Sandalwood additives/fragrance itself.
Aircoder, have you tried/had issues with other sandalwood products?

aircoder,
The same thing happened to me I found it was due to the glycerin in the Skin Food.
Have fun !
Best regards

No problem with the Trumpers Coral, I have used it for several years.
In terms of Sandalwood, not the same product, but I don't get on with Crabtree and Evelyn Sandalwood soap pucks. I have no problem with their Nomad.'Living the dream, one nightmare at a time'

Thanked: 48I also had a similar burn with the SRD Sandalwood soap I got with my starter kit. haven't gotten to use it really and wish I could trade it for one of their other scents like rose i hear is good.
