    Cool Post shave routines

I am new to straight shaving, I picked up my first hollow ground solingen blade at the start of this year and it has quickly and vigorously turned into something of an obsession of mine and is now working into my lifestyle. I'm curious though, what do other avid shavers do after their shave? I am not exactly talking about using any balms or products, but rather about other activities that you may incorporate into your daily routine that just feel enhanced by the feeling of a good shave. I personally look forward to a freshly ground and brewed cup of hot coffee, and a cigarette out on the back step in the cool crisp morning air. I find the early hours are most relaxing, not having the usual hustle and bustle of the rest of the day and I enjoy the peace and quiet of the wee morning, out on the back step I reflect on my shave and the days coming events and puff my cigarette slow and mellow like. Plus the cool air feels AMAZING on my freshly shaved face and i love smelling my after shave in the air. So, what little things do you guys enjoy after a good shave?(mod, feel free to move this if you feel its in the wrong place)

I prefer to shave at night, as I find it more relaxing than the few times I have to do it in the morning. I don't like being rushed during my shave, and it takes a full hour to shower and shave for me.

So, I usually take a really hot shower, go through my shave and clean everything up.

Then it's a cold beer and/or dinner if it hasn't happened already. I make SWMBO feel my face and smell me, which always gets me hugs and kisses (everytime!!) and oohs and ah's along with a wink or two.

Then we usually settle in for some TV and talking about the days hassles and use it as our unwinding time, talk about our favorite shows and generally just spend the time together.

Spending the time after shaving with SWMBO is probably my favorite activity of the day!!

I usually shave in the morning because I need to look presentable at my job.

On weekends when I postpone my shave until the late afternoon, however, I like to finish off my shave by savoring a wee bit of whiskey (Scotch, Rye or Canadian) on the rocks--along with a nice cigar or one of my pipes--while listening to a jazz station on my satellite radio.

Nuntits I'm with you. I shave a lot of the time in the mid morning around 9ish which I have the house to myself fairly often. After my shave and I'm enjoy the smell of my lavender aftershave I love stepping out on my porch with coffee or tea and slowly enjoying a cigarette with the cool air. It sets a great tone for the rest of the day.

I grind my coffee beans in a hand operated vintage Spong grinder and get my coffee going in my little stove top mocha pot (1 cup). I then get dressed for work, and by that time the coffee is done. I have it with sugar and cream in a vintage French coffee bowl. I then drive to work through the Adelaide hills and listen to either my favourite music at the time (currently The Brian Jonestown Massacre) or maybe listen to an audio book (the last was "Water for Elephants'). The photo is of a reservoir I pass on the way to work...

There is something very relaxing about smoking a cigar in solitude.

Morning shaver for the most part here. I am a bear in the morning, and in my younger youth I was the guy always 10-15 minutes late. Now I am even worse, so I wake up 2 hours before I have to be anywhere. By then I am on par mentally to deal with people. So I have plenty of time for the shave routine. After the splash of water, its onto a refill of chock full o' nuts and out to the porch for a smoke. Evening shaves are pretty rare, but the same only replace the coffee with a cheap Genesee or Heinekin.
