Cold After Shave?
A recent trip to the mountains of New York State, I awoke, shaved, applied the aftershave, grabbed a cup of coffee and sat in the yard - all before 6AM.
The cool morning breeze hit my freshly shaved face. It was an incredible sensation. I started to wonder if cold aftershave lotion- refrigerated or otherwise, would provide a similar experience to finish to a shave. Personally, I am a towel person, so my post shave project includes applying a cold towels, which I find invigorating.
Two questions: Has anyone tried using a cold aftershave? Are there any negatives associated with a cold aftershave?
Thanks guys.
Andy

Thanked: 1587Well, I keep my vodka in the freezer...
I don't see why cold aftershave wouldn't work - it is just a preference, right? Negatives might be questions from your wife as to why the condiment shelf is now the aftershave shelf, but I cannot see any reason why an alcohol based AS wouldn't live happily in the fridge.
Never tried it myself - but I don't use aftershave anyway, or very very rarely.
James.

I usually give myself a cold water rinse after shaving. At one time I used some Rose Water AS which they recommended to be kept in the fridge and it did feel very nice.

Ice cold bay rum might be a little too tempting for me.

Some might cloud, but who cares. That's where I keep my Osage Rub. It is truly an invigorating experience with that combination. I save that for warmer days.

Lucido makes an aftershave splash (though they call it a lotion) that with alcohol and menthol. While it is not actually cold, it sure gives you that cool feeling... though it can burn at the same time. The stuff I'm talking about is clear and comes in a clear bottle. They also make something else (can't remember what it's called) that is more like a balm; it is opaque white.

I'll have to try that. I use Aqua Velva from time to time and it has a nice cooling feel to it, I can only imagine if it were kept cold.

Have you ever used a mentholated AS? Oh man! I got some at the Shave Den - you can even have more menthol added if desired. Heck, I even got their mentholated shaving cream. Man try putting on a cold towel on your face after using that!! Wow!
I got this stuff too - Ice in a bottle lol. It's awesome and the feel lasts for a while, but... not sure I like the scent to well lol.
My aftershave is always room temp.
