Do you guys think these products and the brush in the kit are worth the money? I mean, I'm only in $25 plus tax so far and could move on. $115 is a significant jump in cost.
I hope that your shave goes well.

Based on my experience with other products, I'd say that the AOS products and SRs are too pricey to buy. Their scents are great, though. You can get cheaper products that are just as good or better. For example, I get the same texture and effect out of my $3 Arko shave cream as I do from the $25 AOS shave cream. Also, I get a much better texture and effect out of my $16 TOBS shave cream than I do with the $25 AOS shave cream. Other shave cream products like Proraso, Musgo Real, and RazoRock are also great and cost less that AOS.

The brush in the travel kit is actually small compared to regular brushes. However, it is a good starter brush until you decide to move up to a better brush. You can get a good (e.g., Pure Badger) brush for about $30 online.

Like others I would say it is really good and a little does go a long way. I think I only use one pump of the balm and work it in my hand before applying it to my face. I like that the bottle has a pump so you can control the amount you want. With tubes or bottles you can easily squirt or dump too much into you hand, wasting precious product thus money. Since they are not cheap the precision the AOS gives you in dispensing the product it great. I will probably purchase it again in the future. The only other balm that I like as much is Skincado Combat Balm. Though not an actual ASB, it works better than most.

Well, I've tried all the three products in my starter kit. The pre-shave oil seems nice, but made my skin a bit tacky and was too much for a begginer SR user. Two drops was all it took and I actually look forward to trying it again in the future.

The shave cream lathered up nice, but I was so slow with my first shave, that it dried onto my skin and gave me a sort of soap burn. It seems pretty nice otherwise and was truly unscented. Don't ever let it dry out... the result is like a sunburn that has to peel away after a few days. Ouch!

The after shave balm is okay. Again, pretty nice for being unscented. I'm not sure what makes a balm a balm, but it's a lot like a thicker lotion. Prior to the kit I have been using Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture -Sensitive Skin. I think I like it better than the AOS balm. It also comes in a handy pump dispensor.

Can't much compare it to other stuff since I'm a newbie (15 shaves or so) but AOS is where I got my start with straight razor shaving after walking into one of their stores on a whim. I really like the matching aftershave balm in Sandalwood. It feels really good all day, and the smell lingers for quite a while.

Trouble is, I discovered SRDesigns shaving soaps which I like better that AOS's soap...particularly the OPUS X. Now I'm wishing there was an aftershave balm with the same essential oils that are in the OPUS X shaving soap--to the point that I just ordered Tobacco Absolute essential oil and a bunch of carrier oils and ingredients for making lotion to see if I can figure out my own.

Can't be that hard? (Famous last words of the clueless chemist) I guess a freshly shaved face in want of a specific moisturizing scent is the mother of invention.

I just purchased a AOF set along with safety razor ... New to this shaving had a question might sound dumb I shaved this morning used the oil but I feel like I still have it on my face ... Is best to do a full face wash wash or is rinsing alone ok? Also I found a bit of bang for my buck at the AOS store the travel kits come with a $25 coupon towards a bigger kit so I picked up that along with the big kit like getting the travel free :-) also ask for samples they give you tons

I don't know about their product line now but the original outfit started when the owners wife concocted a line of natural shave products and it grew from there. I've used their earliest products and they were real quality stuff.

I use AOS pre shave oil and cream, both Sandalwood. I considered them pricey when I bough them, and the after shave blam the sell is through the roof expensive.

I couldn't agree more really. Moreover, because a little goes a long way, and I like to layer; I am on my second tub of cream, while still using my original bottle of balm.

Purchased the AOS aftershave balm this weekend based on the replies here, used it this morning and am very pleased with the results. I'm relatively new to SR shaving and I'm still tender after a multi pass shave. I picked up the sandlewood scented balm, I like it and so does my skin, I would recommend this product, albeit the $50 CDN price tag was tad hard to swallow.
