Default Bad reaction to T&H 1805?

I was just curious if anyone else has had a bad reaction to T&H 1805? I recently shaved with the sample packs of 1805 and immediately after my face was red, really red. Even had some small red bumps and felt like it was on fire. My girlfriend said it look a little swollen as well. The weird thing is that I shaved with the Ultimate preshave oil, cream and after shave with decent results. However, I need to do another shave test to make sure it wasn't my razor ... like a possible bad stropping. I doubt it though. I kind of hope it was my razor because I really like the smell of 1805

Could be. I know I have to be careful with what soap to use and which AS to use.

Same thing happened to me but I didn't get any bumps. I also really like the scent but my skin can't take it. I've been using the Nancy Boy shaving line with out any problems. The Shaving creams smell natural...Peppermint, cucumber, etc.

That does suck. 1805 is one of my favorties too. It's definitely possilbe your allergic to something in the shave cream. It's also possible you had too much angle on your blade when you shaved

You can test the cream on the inside of your forearm, or some other sensitive area of your skin. See if you get a reaction.

You can even try a small area on your face.

I find Truefitt and Hill a little overly perfumed. Most creams that are highly perfumed can irritate my face as well. AOS sandalwood was that way for me too. I do use Trafalgar as it doesn't sem to bother me. But what you describe is common for me if the cream is overly scented. One scent that I really like and is offered by many is almond. Obviously almond isn't a lasting scent but an ebjoyable shave anyway.

Hmm. That's too bad. I use 1805 all the time with no problems. It's the most mild scented of all the T&H to me. Hardly noticeable to my nose.

I have the same reaction with Coates teatree and rosemary, face fire is not very pleasant. Never had a reaction to any other soaps but Ill be sure not to buy 1805, im sure its the same ingredient causing the problem.

It was a long time ago that I used T&H products and IIRC this was quite a mild one. Maybe try it on your face after leaving your beard to grow back a bit and see if it has any effect on you? Don't shave of course, just to see if it is the cream. It could be an allergy to one of the ingredients.

I don't think it was the tee tree, my shampoo has that in it. After all of the samples from T&H, the only sample that did not irritate my skin was the Ultimate preshave oil, cream and after shave. I'll have to do more researching on the ingredients to ensure that I won't have to go through that again.

If you didn't irritate your skin with the shave, the aftershave should not cause your skin to break out. I use the 1805 aftershave balm and it soothes my face, especially on cold days.
