    Default Talc

I've read many post shave treatments that people use. I haven't noticed anyone who uses talc afterward. Generally I rinse off my face with hot water, do a hot towel, then alum block and rinse with cold water, then witch hazel, then my lubriderm lotion (calms the razor burn and keeps the whiskers soft between shaves), and then I use talc. I personally love the talc at the end, gets rid of any of the extra grease from the lotion, makes my skin silky smooth and helps subdue the razor burn. (I'm still new to SR shaving, haven't gotten the technique totally down). Anybody prefer talc or not prefer talc for any reason?

I always use talc too. I just use a small amount, rub it my hands and apply it to my face. I know there's a big controversy about talc being a carcinogen. I found this report on it.Talcum Powder and Cancer.

I'm a barber, and finish off every shave with an application of talc.

FYI: If you rub it on, it will make your face shiny. Whereas, if you just pat it on, it will leave a more matte finish. I actually recommend that if you have an old brush that you don't really use, make it your dedicated talc brush-- it works like a charm.
