Thanked: 2027I will not use antibacterial soaps anymore.Long exposure to it can and do's do harm.Never take our use any of them unles you have an infection for sure.
The superbugs do exsist, 5 yrs ago a nurse I worked with had a small cut on her hand,She admitted long time antibiotic use for even a sore throat, she was a true antibiotic abuser. That cut turned into a super infection,In just two days they removed her arm up to the shoulder.
Two days later she was dead at the age of 40.

Thanked: 2027One other thing that concerns me.Members state that they hand rub strops after wiping there foreheads just for the oil factor.
Your skin oils are loaded with staph aureus,is 100% natural. a simple microbe, easily killed by any soap.
But,I wonder if you can contaminate your strop? like a petrie dish with agar (germ food) just my ramblings, carry on.

BAND-AID® Brand Adhesive Bandages
The Activ-Flex band-aid are the best I have found. Just clean your cut and cover it up with this. I try not to use neosporin too much. I am actually sensitive to antibiotics so I really hardly ever take them. From their stillness came their non-action...Doing-nothing was accompanied by the feeling of satisfaction, anxieties and troubles find no place

For weepers I recommend less pressure & low shaving angle. Sorry Ed could't resist.
On a serious note , if you can find an ointment or even after shave containing Calendula Officinalis (yellow marigold), it is a great bacteriostatic & speeds up skin healing from any kind of damage.“The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.”

Yeah ok Oz, think that comes with practice, as I can only practice once a day, and only two weeks out of three it could take a while :-), though is getting better, its the bit of my neck that I keep cutting that is the current problem, which again comes down to angle and pressure :-)
Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

After a weeper or a cut I wash with soap and cold water. Many times the cold water will shut down a weeper/cut without any other intervention. After the soap and water I use hydrogen peroxide to disinfect. If it continues to weep or bleed I use aluminum (which I use after every shave anyway) and if required a styptic powder.
Like any other wound, I keep it clean and keep an eye out for trouble.

If it bleed I use pressure, most of the time in 2 minutes it stops bleeding.
