ive actually had the opposite experience. i used to do the long pre shave routine with hot towels. then i tried a cold water shave and never looked back. now my pre shave is splashing my face, lathering a shaving. to each his own. its rewarding finally finding what works for you, took me a long time.

This works for me! I changed everything and took my time (tasked my wife to distract kiddo) and had one of the closest shave I have ever had using my straight.

Glad to hear it! It really is a zen-centered art. You cannot have distractions. I have to completely cut off access to myself for shaving.

I'm glad I'm able to shave with distractions, such as a girlfriend who wants to brush her teeth and a kitten who just wants to be on the counter top and get cuddles.

Just tried a cold water DE shave...amazing. I thought it was an exercise in masochism when I first read it, but it works and quickly.

Once I tried the cold water shave, I've never looked back. It's the best. I think Ben Franklin also endorsed cold water shaves, but not 100 percent sure about that.

I used to soak my brush in warm water while in the shower (10 min max). Then one day the glue came lose when I was flicking the brush to help dry it, and the knot flew into the wall and split. Needless to say I was some what disappointed.

I soak mine in a mug so the glue doesn't soak, only the brush up to the collar.

When I flick it dry, I do it against the heel of the palm just in case the knot lets go. So far, so good.

I am a boar whore, so soaking is pretty much a necessity.

+1 to that. A knot that turns loose in warm water is something to look out for, for sure.
