the only thing availible to me locally is VDH and williams. I have been using the VDH shave soap but i'd like to try something new and better. I was going to order something online but with all the choices its hard to decide. I dont want to spend a fortune but i want something with a good slick lather and a nice scent. Any recommendations?

The body shop shave cream has been the only one i've tried so far, and I find it fanstastic. There are a few threads buried in the archives about it. Very smooth lather. Here in Oz we had 45C the other day.
I'm going to need a bigger bathroom

Thanked: 1I have a few creams and soaps, the soaps last years but the creams for the most part lather up fast and can be taken straight to the face to lather.

Taylors of Old Bond Street, referred to as TOBS, actually in Jermyn Street, London has a Grapefruit Shaving Cream which has been my go to the past month displacing Volabra and Irish Moos. It is certainly highly recommended for a smooth close shave. I face lather with a small vintage travel Badger brush, the size of a Simpson Wee Scott, which I can get three passes with a tiny touch of cream.
When I told my wife I had some grapefruit shaving cream, she came right back with "What is wrong with peeling it?"
Happy New Year
