Default first try with shave cream

I have used shaving soap in the mug for well lets just say a long, long, long, time. went shopping with the wife sat. and ended up in a shop with more smell and lotions than I ever imagined. Now in this shop of nose horror was a very, very small section of men's products. My wife found this C. O. Bigelow shave cream and bought it for me. did I object of course I did. and i'll tell her in another 15-20 years. I tried it this morning. I was surprised at how good it worked. the only problem for me is it was cold. it had eucalyptus oil in it and I don't know if that made it so cold or not but that's the only draw back. it think this is something best saved for summer.

CO Bigelow is rebranded Proraso. Good stuff, wish they would get the other scents besides menthol though.

I started out exclusively with creams. My go-to is T&H Ultimate Comfort. I have to say though that after trying the Stirling Soaps uh well, soaps I'm pretty much a soap convert. I pretty much have to use preshave with creams. After finding out that I have a very bad skin allergy to a type of commercial preservative I went on the hunt for natural alternatives and ended up trying the Stirling stuff. No preshave needed with the soap for me, and that I like... That being said, I do now have some Queen Charlotte Soaps creams now too...

Happy Experimenting!!! It's always nice to know that you have a variety to choose from.

As has been stated CO Bigelow is re-branded Proraso, so you could try their sandalwood cream or their cream with aloe and vitamin E if the eucalyptus oil is a bit much for you. Yea, live and learn for sure.

The C.O. Bigelow was the first "non-canned crap" shaving medium I had used. I had it for a while but never used it till I got a straight. I hadn't discovered this site yet and didn't really know how to use it except for with a brush. I didn't know how much product to use and how much water to with it so my results were inconsistent (usually dry). I still liked it and the feeling it provided but of course florida is warmer than Tennessee. In fact just yesterday has it gotten below 80 degrees. But soaps were easier for me and still are and I can make soaps easier so thats what I use.

Never could understand Bigelow/Proraso green tube being a summer cream. I do use it in the winter doing cold water shaves and we do get a tad cold around here. I guess it is all a matter of perspective I suppose.

A week ago we had 5 °F here.

I like both soaps and creams but I tend to go with creams more often. It's always fun to try new soaps/creams.
