Lathering my face helps me get a closer shave with my double edge. I'm in a process of switching to straight razor. Does it help when using a straight razor?

I feel it helps prep the beard a bit more, lifts the hairs up and helps prevent ingrown hairs. Just my 2 cents. Only bad thing for me is that I have a hard time face lathering Cella shave soap, heave been sticking to my creams more.
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.
