Any drug store, Walmart, etc should carry liquid glycerin. Ask clerk or pharmacist where on shelf, it is often 'hidden' because it is a slow seller. No specific brand name, all alike. 2 to 4-5 drops, depending on hard/soft water, is all you need to enhance the lather.

I have the same issue with the soap drying on my face since going back to the SR. I am taking much longer to shave now and still use the DE to finish but by the time I get to the DE things have started drying. I have never used glycerin but am curious to give it a try. Are there any negative affects to using it?
No negative affects, although your significant other may start calling you sweetie after a peck on the cheek!!

I used glycerin when I first started, because it took me too long to shave. 4 or 5 drops really helped out. Sometimes I uber-lather with MWF and proraso and a few drops of glycerin. This builds enough lather to shave a mule team.

    UAguy-

With our frequent single digit humidity here in Tucson, just get used to relathering your face. When I started I would shave my half my face (above the jaw) and relather my whole face/neck, Shave the next "quarter" and relather again, repeat until done.

Now if your lather in the bowl isn't lasting, perhaps we need to meet for some remedial training...

The lather in the bowl seems to do fine. Just the face dries. Probably doesn't help that my bathroom/bedroom is an open design so keeping the humidity up after a shower doesn't really happen either.

My lather thickens with age, especially warm lather in a scuttle. Five drops of glycerin helps. I dip my brush tips in water and remix as needed. I also reapply lather to my face to keep lather moist. Moist lather promotes easier cutting and helps prevent chatter and sticking.

I use proraso cream and it still dries out. Hell, jerky and kiln dried lumber dry out in Tucson (except July- Sept)!

I wonder if a "shaving oil" or even baby oil might be a better option for you. I work in the sand box and go throught the same thing. I've tried baby oil and may go back to it just for this reason.
