Default Lather Dries out mid shave

So I am still chasing a good lather but on thing i have had issues with is that i get halfway through my shave and have to reapply to the other side of my face due to it drying out. I live in Southern AZ where humidity is pretty much nada for most of the year. is that part of the problem? also we have hard water and that can kill the lather but will it also cause it to dry out?

You have two options, continue building lather the way you're currently doing it, and wet it with the brush when it gets dry.
or, add more water to the lather when building it and see if that doesn't last longer enough for you to finish a pass.

Some soaps and creams are a lot better than others. What product are you using that's drying out?

What shaving soap or cream are you using? This will help others with more experience help you!

While where I live I have no problem with hard water but I would suggest that you buy a gallon of distilled water (it's cheap/maybe a $1+) and try that to see if it makes a difference!

You never know till you try!

Typically, you need more water to make a long lasting and effective lather with creams than you do with soaps....JMHO.

I have a friend who lives in or about your area, I'll send him an email and see if he and you can get together!!

My well water here in FL is hard as well. I use the bottled drinking water we buy in 5 gal. jugs.

TOBS Sandalwood is part of my rotation and it's really easy to lather. It should not break down during your shave. My water is very soft so I would agree with the others that suggest you try a bottle/jug of distilled water and see if that helps.

I like shaving using a hair conditioner on my own face in the dry months of winter rather than lather....pain though shaving customers, I have to relather them mid shave for both head and facial shaves
