I agree. I have been wanting a good scuttle for a little while now and just can't seem to find the one that looks the best. A lot of them do look like pitchers, not in a bad way, just a little clunky sometimes. Do you find making a lather in yours is difficult given the brush rest hangs over the main bowl a little?

What's up guys im new to this site. Anyone interested in a great scuttle check out Georgetown Pottery. Pick out what model you like and call the store, say you are interested in whatever style and color, and tell the person you are interested in one of the "seconds". The g12 is 30.00 and the g20 is 35.00, plus 11.00 for shipping. I got the g20 and cant find anything wrong with it at all. Good luck guys

Initially it was a bit in the way while "stirring." I have adapted. A local artist that I know well that is going to attempt making one using this as a starting point and making my "corrections" to the design. I will post when I get the result. If successful, I am sure she would be willing to make more.
The easy road is rarely rewarding.

Sticking the scuttle in the Microwave full of water works like a champ and the earthenware stays hot. I emailed Robert becker and his scuttle is micro safe. Try it!!

I have had my scuttle now for two weeks and love it. I sent an email to Robert Becker who is the maker of this fine scuttle and asked him if I could fill it and microwave it to heat it up. He replied yes and that's what he does. It works very well, try it.

Used my scuttle the other day to try a sample shave cream pack of T&H Trafalgar or one of the other samples. Awesome, can't beat nice hot lather.

I bring my scuttle upstairs, and pour boiling hot water from the kettle in both areas, and let my brush soak in the spout for about ten minutes. I then re-boil the kettle, empty and the add the new boiling water, carry it downstairs and start the shave routine.

It's very nice, nothing like the stinging feel of good hot lather on the face, worked in well with the brush! Takes longer, but like most things in this hobby, you can change things up anytime you want, if you feel like it, use it.

I am going to attempt to repurpose a small stainless steel double-walled mixing bowl like this gentlemen did.

I just ordered a G-20 from Georgetown Pottery will see how that works. I was using a large mortar and pedestal, retained heat good but was a pain to get hot!

GETTING OLD STINKS, but it's better than not getting old Tim
