Warming your lather
Just wondering what different methods you all use to heat up the lather. I lather in a Oreo Cookies bowl, run very hot water into the sink and set the bowl in while I am stropping, showering etc. Do any of you micro wave the lather bowl, heat the water on the stove etc?? Share your tricks and ideas

You can get a shaving scuttle. I basically just do what you stated. Never heard of microwaving it. Let's see what some of the more experienced shavers say.

I've been using a scuttle for almost everyday for almost two years. If you like warm lather, a scuttle can't be beat.

Heavy earthenware* will absorb heat from hot water and slowly release this heat, keeping lather warm enough. So that's what i use. As I keep my water heater set low enough to avoid burning, I usually fill/dump the bowl twice whilst showering/stropping sorting out the blades.
*any earthenware, but more mass is more heat storage, ala Swedish mass/masonry heater, rocket heater, or cob cottage/adobe home.
**or woodstove or sun (passive solar yo).
Love to try a scuttle proper, but will have to wait for stocking stuffing time.Buttery Goodness is the Grail

Thanked: 0I use an old coffee cup warmer. Turn it on when starting to shower, nice and warm by the time lather making starts.

For the longest time I used a coffee cup full oh hot water with a stainless steel bowl that had lips that fit perfectly over the top of the mug.
Then I got all fancy and bought a real scuttle.
In all honesty, I am thinking about going back to the coffee cup and stainless. That earthenware they use on scuttles kind of takes forever to heat up, whereas the stainless takes heat like a champ! In my case its the difference between hot and warm.
Don't need to think about it for a long while now though. Summer's here! Give me menthol please . Good luck!David
