You seem to have come over to the cold side...and we are in fact the "Cool Kids".

For me the change to cool/cold helped with shave quality and irritation...

The only rule is do what works best for you...

I do finish with a hot towel rinse to clear the lather, esp. out of my Mo..
Followed by and Ice Water washcloth...

Cold water shaving worked so well that have even dialed down the temp on the showers...

Smooth shaving and enjoy the ride...

From simple face lathering to complicated uber-lathers and everything in between, I love it all except cold water lathers, that just isn't for me, nope no way no how, tried it once and only once BRrrrrrrrrrr you masochists can keep it..

Well, you know the masochist motto.

Sticks and stones my break my bones but whips and cold water shaves excite me.

Agree about the $1200. razor, but I'm not giving up my Ferrari to fetch my loaf of boutique bread.

I use all of the methods mentioned and added a new one yesterday when I used a puck of Calani for the first time and held it in my palm to face lather....not an elegant way to go but worked just fine.

    Yes, I do know.

One is a Simpsons Chubby2, one has a custom handle and the last a pug ugly experiment on loft setting. All have synthetic knots and work about equally well. No doubt which is easier on the eyes but pug ugly will get er done just as well.

You know funny you mention that, because I was experimenting with just rubbing a dab of Shave Cream on the hands into the beard and then using the brush after. worked pretty good actually

Yep, you never know when we might be in the trenches again applying the less is more principal and leaving all but a few of the trinkets behind.
