I got the G20 for Christmas. I have found filling the reservoir with water and enough water in the lather bowl to soak my brush then putting it in the microwave for 2 minutes gets the water warm enough and it lasts plenty long enough. I get the brush soaked in the later bowl then while applying soap to the brush I pour the water out of the bowl. Stopper keeps water in the reservior.

Some people rave about cold water shaves so this morning I put water in the scuttle like before but I put the scuttle in the frig for about an hour. I then soaked the brush in the cold water and created cold lather in the bowl. The lather is VERY cold at first but the initial shock only lasts a few seconds. While shaving the scuttle kept the lather cold just as it keeps warm lather warm. So you can do various things to get a shave with the temp lather you like. It doesn't bother me because I know the scuttle is clean but wife may not like the scuttle sitting in the frig. I will say that after this COLD shave my skin felt better than after using warm lather. I did two passes and sometimes my skin has felt tender but today after the cold lather shave it felt better I think. But I need to do this at least once more before I'll have an opinion about it. But the first shave with chilled water was a success.

I have been using the SRD scuttle and if I'm going to hold the scuttle in my hand I like it better. The G20 with water is pretty heavy. But as someone else said, this thing is heavy enough to sit solidly on the counter while whipping up the lather.

All in all a great scuttle. In my one year limited experience anyway.
