Thanked: 4942MWF Soap
So, I have been using an olive oil soap to was my face prior to shaving for quite some time with very nice results. I have also been using MWF Bar Soap in the shower for the last couple years and love it. It occurred to me that I should try the MWF for my face wash prior to lathering up for the shave because I like the soap so much. Needless to say, it did not disappoint. I have been using it as a pre-shave for about a week now and I think I'm going to stick with it for awhile. Very nice......
Has anyone else tried the MWF soap as a pre-shave?

Yes, I have. During a side-by-side test of Mitchell's Wool Fat and Scottish Fine Soap. Scottish Fine Soap (body bar and shaving soap) beat MWF by leaps and bounds.

At my age I continue to learn more about what I should already know. There's a meet coming up in april outside of Memphis tn so I can a chance to ask and maybe better understand about the pre-shave oils and soap. Who knew

Lynn,
I used Mitchell's Wool Fat as a shave soap for a while and then tired of it. Also, I did not particularly care for the texture of the lather. Loved the fragrance, though. Yes, it could have possibilities as a pre-shave face wash. Good experiment.
Robin,
I gave Scottish Fine Soaps a good try, using a variety of techniques and brushes, and finally tired of it, too. I found the texture rather lumpy. Loved the fragrance, I must say. Now, I have never tried it as a pre-shave face wash. It's worth consideration.

Yes, I have used MWF in the shower too. The lanolin is nicely moisturizing in the winter.

I use MWF bath and facial soap as a prep. Lately I found something even better. MWF makes a very concentrated shampoo, and if I wash my beard with the shampoo in the shower, I get the smoothest straight razor shave ever.

I am going to try the MWF bar soap tonight for the first time hoping it will help out with my incredibly dry skin. I guess it's a bonus it makes for good shave prep.
