Stefan's formula looks good, although I'd drop the glycerin, as it would seem counter-productive (it's absorbed).

Mineral oil is another possibility, although not liked well on philosophical grounds by the petrophobes here.

1/3 castor oil, 2/3 less viscous oil of your choice. I started out using olive oil, but moved on to more easily adsorbed oils (and it is adsorbed, not absorbed for those who care about linquistic niceness). Grapeseed oil is particularly good.

After you've skinned a badger for his hair you take him and squeeze him out and you get great shave oil.

"petrophobes" I love it. I'll be stealing that forever.

No I will not do it. Besides badgers(some are huge!) can kill me as I have no rifle

    ferroburak,

I have used jojoba and olive oil in various proportions to enrich lather, and also for use in the 'oil pass' when using safety razors.

jojoba/olive/castor and other oils seem to perform very similarly, so take your pick and give it a whirl

Mr Ham ('LeisureGuy') has given a formula in his book (Leisureguy's Guide to Gourmet Shaving: Shaving Made Enjoyable); this has the benefit of you being able to eat the remaining stock oils

    2 parts Almond oil
    2 parts Avocado oil
    2 parts Olive oil
    1 part Grapeseed oil
    1 part Macadamia nut oil
1-2 drops essential oil(s) (for fragrance)—or however much you want

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ
