I'm a simple guy, so I tend not to overdo it. One badger brush and one lathering is enough for me.
I have to admit though, I have thought about getting a boar hair to do better skin cleaning, since the badger is so soft.

I only use one brush. Oh, I use two sometimes. Also, I don't believe in exfoliating.

I use one brush at a time. I have a thought that many people over exfoliate their skin. This is doubly so for us straight razor users. This is because there is a large amount of dead skin removed by the blade that many other shavers do not receive. I have seen many threads where the persons problems are at least partially to blame for using an exfoliating wash before shaving thus irritating the skin. Mind you this is just my opinion and because of which doesn't really matter in the scheme of things.

I Use Two Brushes . . .
Gentlemen:
I prefer one brush per shave.
If I use a second, then the first will feel abandoned — and cry.
Keep peace in the family, is what I say.

Obie

I only own one brush. I have never had more than one, unless I was selling the old one and already bought the new one.
Also, the act of shaving does all the exfoliating I need to do, so I do not further exfoliate.
