Thanked: 983Winter hre now so the cold water shave has taken a turn for the better. The tap water is much colder in the early morning now. Mind you it is never truly that cold here. Well not for me. My wife would disagree as she doesn't like any temp below 25C, whereas I think it is only starting to get comfortably cool enough at about 18C with colder being better.
@Deerhunter1995 I'll be out in the paddocks and with you in spirit again from Friday. Got quite a bit to get done maintenance wise. Nailing down roof sheets on the sheds and such. As well as the usual fencing, slashing, poisening and sorting out the good wood from the bad in the wood piles.

I tried a warm water shave the other day and paid the price in blood and burn. Tried again today with cold water and had similar results - burn and blood. The stubble is also noticeable when feeling ATX. Guess it will remain hot water for me. Cheers to all those who prefer the cold water and good for you on helping the environment!

Although the statement that metal expands when hot and contracts when cool is true the amounts of expansion / contraction are tiny.
Taken from internet as I don't have any reference books handy:
"0.00000645in/in/deg F is the coefficient of thermal expansion for steel
Therefore one inch of steel will expand 0.00000645 inches for every degree Fahrenheit increase in temperature"
I doubt this is enough to notice with the difference between hot and cold tap water
I know the edge is microscopic, but imho you would need to be supercooling the blade to notice a physical change
Does that make sense?
Sorry, science bore signing off....

If it's a hot day, I cold water shave. If it's a cold day, I hot water shave.
Peronally, I don't see a difference in the end result.
