Thanked: 2Razor bumps!?! (pics)
Razor bumps ugh! Need these to go away like now. I know my razors dull and is prob the main cause. Will be getting a stone ASAP to take care of this. I want to order tonight. I need something pre lapped and ready to go. Was going to get a Norton 4/8k but there not pre lapped. I will be honing 1-2x a month to keep the edge.
Any hones you guys can recommend for like $60? I'm just so sick of this! My chin burns!
Looking into other razor bumps products to help these go away.
I shave 2-3x a week, and strop daily and use that Kiss My Face shaving cream which I love.

Thanked: 993Hmmmm, a 4k is not what you're looking for.
You sound like you're more interested in a touch-up hone rathe than a coarser grit. You may want to try a barber's hone.
There is usually one or two floating around in the classifieds, and Gemstar Customs always has a few for sale. Glen laps them and tests them before the go up for sale.
Bear in mind, that 99.9 percent of the hones you buy from anywhere.....anywhere....are going to need to be lapped. New Nortons, new PHIG's, new Naniwas.....you've got to do the work.

Thanked: 1195Don't see the pics......
Anyway, after you get your razor sharpened the first step to eliminating razor bumps is to map your beard. Do they mostly appear on your jawline and neck? Avoid ATG shaving, and try to avoid shaving over the same areas over and over in an effort to get a smoother shave. You may want to examine your preshave prep, as well as your post shave routine. One factor at a time, though.

I see no pics, but I have 2 suggestions. Send you razor out to get re honed and purchase a barbers hone, while waiting give your face time to heal. A 4/8k aint gonna help you.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

Thanked: 48mother of god that looks painfull.1+ to the alum block and to getting your razor rehoned and getting a barber hone form glen.i like to think i learn fast, but it took many months to get a good shaving edge and years to get a great shaving edge off the hones.a barber hone will keep a sharp razor sharp. and once lapped will stay that way.

Thanked: 993
It's your face so you're going to do what you want.
I highly suggest you read as many articles as you can find on SRP about these grits: 1k and what it's for. 4k and what it's for. 8k and what it's for. 12k and what it's for. barber's hone and what it's for.
The Norton 1k/4k combo will set your bevel and sharpen it. It will not perform the tasks of an 8k stone, 12k stone or finisher....

I think he's refering to the 1/4 kit that Larry sells, he cuts the 4k/8k stone in quarters to make them cheaper.
