    Default Hot towel question

OK folks, I have a stupid question. I want to start adding a hot towel to my preserve along with my Barbasol prep. My question is this. How does one go about applying this to the face. I have no chair in my shave area so do I just hold it to my face and for how long? Sorry for the idiotic question but I think my left brain is over thinking this

i just tilt my head back in the bathroom.

Take hot towel wrap from the neck up around cheeks and cross over at the top over my eyes. leaving a little poky hole for my nose.
tilt head back for minute or two

Bar towels , folded & soaked with water, microwave in bathroom to 130. Squeeze out, place on face after shave, use to wipe off lather.

I normally just hold them on my face until they start to cool. First time on the face after a nice scrub with soap these days followed by a second towel after lathering up the first time. Great preparation and very relaxing. Then on the the re-lather and shave.

    Have fun.

The microwave works really well for those who don't get tap water hot enough. I've noticed a huge change in ease of shaving since I started with the towels in February.

I do the same, except, I use a wash cloth instead of a towel and do it a total of 4 times.

3 hot wash cloths before prep (Barbasol), soak brush in a hot bowl of water, strop, and then one hot wash cloth to clean it off. Whip up lather, lather up, and shave two passes. Strop, ATG, clean up, shower, aftershave.

Hi, Have you tried stropping after you lather up? I find it's a really good way to allow the lather and pre-shave time to soak in.

I have only used a hot towel (wash cloth) once or twice. I found it messy (dribbling water) and what I felt I REALLY wanted was little elastic loopy things so I could have it stuck to my face while I made the lather.

Now it's getting colder here (SIX degrees tonight!) it sounds appealing again, though...

I used to do the hot towel thing before shaving but since I shower before shaving I found I prefer to do it after shaving. I usually lather up after shaving and apply the towel for 2 minutes followed by a cold water rinse. it's very invigorating.

Getting colder eh? Now all folk know the summer is a commin and it's gettin warmer so don't try and fool us by saying in your part of the world thing are reversed. Next thing you'll be saying is when you flush the toilet the water circles the opposite direction.

Not sure about the water direction, but you know that gesture where one wants to indicate that another is 'loopy' and puts one's hand to one's head, index finger pointed, others curled, circling the finger while making quizzical expressions and sneering slightly? Well, here in Australia we do the circles the OTHER way round...

    Well:

In my case this is what I do:

Fill up with Hot water the bathroom sink, I put the towel in.
I take out the towel out from the water and puting my elbows on the sides of the bathroom sink, I put the towel over my face for 1 1/2minutes for 2 times.
The face at that moment is very red. Then I add either soap or cream and then the towel for a 3rd time.
After that then I apply eithr Proraso pre/post or CF.
Finally with my brush I apply soap or cream.

After that then, my wife every single day ask me how I can speed up a little more. I just say hey; this is my time go to the kitchen or use the other bathroom.

    Thanks
    K
