It doesn't sound goofy at all. There's a whole market built up around that, you know :-)
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Nothing sounds goofy to me. I own about forty soaps/creams, and still buying more.

I've got it bad. I'd be shocked if anyone who posts on this site said anything like "Gosh...no one needs more than two types of soap."

As for the Army being unable to make anything grow on soap, that doesn't mean the EPA or FDA or some other government alphabet soup wouldn't pass regulations dictating the humidity at which shaving soap must be stored for "consumer protection."

The two soaps I use come in their own containers, e.g. Proraso, and MWF. I lather them up in their own containers & then either transfer to my scuttle, or face lather.

Some soaps (e.g. MWF) are _hard_. I found that MWF worked best if I let a bit of water soak into the top for a few minutes. So I'd be inclined to keep it covered and just a little moist.

    Experiment, and report back . . .

As a matter of legend, my father told me that during WW II, the US Army was wondering if it was OK to have soldiers share soap in the shower. They did some testing, and couldn't make _anything_ grow on soap.

I found that my MWF is dry to the point that the puck has developed cracks all over it, & it gets the lid put on it immediately after use. (I also let it soak in water before my shave). This doesn't really bother me though, as the cracks obviously fill in & disappear the next time I load my brush with it.
