Just did my first face lather w/o using a bowl to make my lather. I actually like it better! It went on alot warmer! It also was alot wetter. I think I've been getting my lather to dry. Thanx Guys!!

Just make sure you soak your brush and then shake most of the water out...and then do 20-25 swirls ( dont skimp ) or more and then you can go right to face lathering or you can put that loaded brush into a scuttle and swirl it around for 30 seconds MAYBE add a few drops of water (5-10) and swirl another minute and you will have your lather in a bowl from a puck of soap.

I don't know about you guys but I have always face-lathered. All my soaps are pucks/in bowls except for the one shave stick that I own (Palmolive). I think using a shave stick once in a while will let you appreciate the face lathering a lot more. Just rub it all over your face and then start to work a wet brush in to it. You will have a lather explosion in no time!!

I put hot water on top of the puck, lather with the brush, then lather on my face. Over time you will develop your own preferred method, as well as preferred soaps that respond to lathering the way you want them to.

There's no right and wrong. What's right for you is what matters. It's part of what makes traditional wetshaving enjoyable. It's tailor-made to personal tastes.

If you decide to put your puck in a bowl (like a soup or salad bowl), then don't forget to put it in the microwave for a 30 seconds or so. The soap will melt a bit, and then harden, which will lock it into the bowl. It won't slide around after the nuke.

    Default question about soap pucks

Suggestion. What I did before I started using a Surabachi , was to just slice off thin pieces of the puck and press them into the bottom of the bowl. Worked very well and the puck stayed dry and in it original container.
Important for as you buy more soap you'll know what they are.

I would only really suggest this with glycerin based soaps. Putting non glycerin based soaps in the microwave has a good chance of ruining the soap.

I just wet the puck and apply light pressure and let it dry. Never had a problem with the puck shifting when I do that.
Shaving with facial hair is like a golfcourse. It's a challenge of rough and fairways. You are the skilled greenskeeper of your face?
