Thanked: 247Attention newbs!
Nothing paramount here, but I have been straight shaving with great results for a few months now.
I started out using a soap that seemed fantastic. I liked everything about it and basically used various flavored of the same stuff for the past few months.
Recently on a whim I tried a fairly popular cream. I won a few bucks in a card game and was ordering some alum anyway, so I popped for a tube of this rather inexpensive product.
Holy moly! The experience was more than impressive!
I post this only as a suggestion to fairly new guys that think you have it right...don't be afraid to try something different anyway, you might be surprised.
I really wish there was a way/feature where we could do pass arounds so people could try new (to them) products that they might not otherwise try.
Now I am giddy wondering what other little "gems" are out there that will work wonders for my experience?

Thanked: 1195Welcome to the wonderful world of SAD and SCAD
Oh, and don't be afraid to post the name of the new product you used, there's certainly no rule against that.

It's funny...I have used AOS soap for the longest time since it is the only one I had...I read all about these other ones and other creams and I wish I had the money and space to store them all...Although on the bright side this soap is almost finished and my birthday is coming up...I might get two or three new items and start exploring that world as well..
Unit...enjoy the new find!!

Thanked: 247Attention newbs!
Thanks guys.
I was using some great soap and really feel like I discovered how to get the most of it.
Recently I tried Proraso red and Bigelow. The Proraso red is some fantastic stuff (Bigelow is good too, might be better in the summer though) and it works really well for me. As I say, nothing paramount...it's perhaps one of the most used creams? But I never tried it because I thought I had the hot ticket.
Now...what is next?

Thanked: 275The next step might be buying some Tabac or MWF . . . <g>
There's so much space on a bathroom counter, you can get _lots_ of soap before you fill it all up!<g>
. . Charles. . . . . Mindful shaving, for a better world.

Thanked: 485Yeah, really true, it's multi faceted...
Excellent creams/Soaps are not exclusively 'expensive' products, there are some really nice cheap products out there. Lately, I'm leaning towards the more natural, but there's a whole new world of them too, plus some of the more 'traditional' brands are going 'safer' too, creams and soaps and stuff is more than half the fun I'm sure.Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

The good/bad thing about soaps and creams is that most aren't very expencive so when SAD and SCAD hits the Den will quickly fill up
BTW: The Proraso red is fairly new, it was released this summer. I just got a couple tubes and being a soap guy it really impressed, it's one of the best creams I have tried.Need help or tutoring? Check out the .

There are many great creams and soaps and just like everything else, what you like is personal. I have a bunch of stuff I have tried, some I like better than others. Whatever soap/cream you want to try, I'm sure someone on this website has made comments about it. Do a search and you can get an idea of what it is like before you spend money.

Yeah but many of the comments tend to come off as jargon or otherwise fail to convey what might likely be an individual experience anyway...that is why I started by not mentioning the product brand.
