The hagfish thing is a great idea. You might just have a winner there!

I just can't help but to like something that is efficient and has multiple uses!! Besides providing a lifetime of surfactant, I see they are used for belt and purse manufacture. Well, if you can make a belt outa one, why not a strop??

You will gain speed with time (without rushing), and that is a big reason my face looked like it was in a plaster cast before I finished shaving.

Ok, I've been using a lot of these suggestions (haven't found a hagfish yet) and working at it, especially using more water, whipping it up more, and refreshing more often, and have been getting better results every day. Thanks again! However, today I tried making an uberlather in my new scuttle (best Valentine's Day gift ever!) and had no drying problems at all! Best results yet.

I've always had issues with soaps drying out too. Colonel Conk and others. Different techniques didn't help. Figured it was likely the incredibly hard water here where I live. Also tried a couple creams and had trouble with breakouts afterwards.

    At Walgreens. $2.

Haven't looked for anything else since. Lathers easily, never dries out, my skin loves it. My wallet loves it.

I read several times where you mentioned the lather under your nose dried before you could shave that area. Have you considered shaving there first before your breath dries out the lather on your upper lip? I learned that little trick a few months back and it works great!

Really agree with above post to shave lip and chin area first. After those are done the rest is a piece of cake. Also, perhaps it is taking way longer to shave than you think? And lather is drying naturally?

I have considered this, and will try it out on my shave today, but I've also heard that the particularly tough hairs in those areas benefit from staying lathered while shaving all other areas first. Since those hairs are always the hardest to shave for me, I've only tried it that way so far, but I'm willing to experiment.

Uberlather solved my drying problems. I know it's probably bad to add more products as a solution before truly mastering how to perfectly lather a soap/cream by itself, but the drying problems were stressing me out. Now I enjoy a much more relaxed shave with a much more desirable lather.

    Thanks for the ideas!
