Sounds like a good routine to me.

    Here's mine:

    1. Strop razor
    2. Microwave my shave towels for 30 secs, with a drop of lavender oil on them
    3. Apply a menthol pre-shave oil
    4. Lather up
    5. Apply hot towels two or three times
    6. Apply the pre shave oil and lather up again

Lately, I've just been doing a hot shower with Nancy Boy face wash and have been getting great results. I find that pre-shave oils and creams and stuff don't do much for me.

I have only recently started using the proraso preshave, and honestly I don't know if it has a placebo effect, I suspect it might... either way I suppose I just like to buy all this crap just because it fuels my obsession!

strop or hone and strop the razor i just got the night before. dream of the shave . choose then soak brush.
shower, choose soap or cream , figure out how to shave better than i did last time and find why my last hone and strop was good or bad, but, still enjoy my man time
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Mine is really basic. I use the brush to wash my face with hot water and then lather up. Sometimes if I've been away camping and haven't shaved for a few days, I'll lay a face washer soaked in hot water on my face for 30 seconds or so before using the brush. I always shave before I shower.

I keep it pretty simple... I found that I didn't like the whole hot towel prep, so all I do is use Proraso pre-shave cream. I put that on, strop my razor about 50 times, then soak my silvertip badger brush in cold water, and load the brush on the Proraso soap tub for a full minute. Then I take the brush to my mug and start whipping, adding cold water slowly, until finally I have the right consistency. I splash a bit of water on my face, then lather. Make my first WTG/XTG pass. Lather again. Make second WTG/XTG pass. Cold water rinse. Splash T.N. Dickinson's witch hazel on my entire face and neck, allow to dry. Then apply Nivea Sensitive Skin Post-Shave Balm all over my face and neck and I'm good to go!
