Thanked: 3What is your preshave routine?
Hey all,
ill be honest I haven't searched to see if
someone started a thread like this but I figured what the heck.
Anyway this is my routine/ritual currently:
pre shower....
Strop
layout all materials on sink.
Fill mug including soap with hot water; bring mug with the brush in it
into the tub.
In the shower:
take shaving brush fill with hot water rub it on my face
(it feels awesome!)
shampoo hair and beard(rub it in for about a min)
condition hair and beard(rub it in for about two min leave it on)
wash body
rinse off conditioner
while I'm still in the shower I lather my pre shave lather leave it on
towel off while lather is still on. That way I don't have to worry about hurrying to shave. Rinse lather off, apply pre shave oil, lather begin the shave.
What's your ritual??

and I am done.
I like to keep things simple.

1. dip my brush 4 minutes or so in hot water.
2. Some hot water on my MB soap
3. Strop my razor that i picked for today.
4. make good lather.
5. Take a shower or a good facewash whit hot water.
6. Lather up and shave.
(Take the time for lather up your face, how more time you use for this how better the shave)

Thanked: 26Straight from the shower I got lather up, the go start my coffee--start the water kettleon low, grind the beans, get the cup and filter ready. Then I go back to the bathroom, lather up again, and shave. The extra lather time really works for me.

Add hot water to my bowl with the brush in it
Add a tiny bit of hot water to the top surface of the soap I chose to use
Shower (wash face very well)
Wipe the vaseline off my razor and strop 20 times (note that I stropped it 30 times after the last shave already)
Refresh my bowl with hot water again and dump it
Make the lather in my bowl and apply
Shave
(then on to post-shave which belongs in a different forum )

Thanked: 0My water heater doesn't get water as hot as I like, so I put pyrex pitcher in microwave on reheat (boils) pour contents into a double stainless bowl. Use small dollop of AOS Sandlewood shaving cream with some glycerine. Take shower lather face with boar bristle brush and good natural glycerine soap. Leave on while shampoo hair and wash then rinse off. Out of shower dry everything except face. Use AOS sandlewood pre-shave oil. Use silver tip badger brush soaked in sink with hot tap water. Shake out excess water. Then use Proraso shaving creme/soap the oatmeal and tea small tub. After swirling on brush tips mix with AOS/glycerine in now hot stainless bowl till peaks form on my brush. Lather face, shave, lather again shave and sometimes do 3rd pass. Afterward, rinse with cold water, then witch hazel (Dickenson's) and then Alum block. Then use after shave balm (Busheron or AOS Lavender or Sandlewood) Then a cologne of some sort. Afterwards go back to bed from being exhausted from shaving.......just kidding. Makes for a great day
