Hot towel prep
I have heard about adding a bit of Vicks vapor rub and a dash of an essential oil such as lavender to the hot towel. Has anyone tried this method?

I have done both in several ways (vicks only, EO only and vicks +EO). I enjoy using the EO on a hot towel, though I don't think it does anything for the quality of the shave, just the enjoyment. As far as the Vicks, it irritated my skin and did not lead to an enjoyable shave but YMMV.

I do like the green Proraso without a doubt in the summer. I will give the Vicks a shot and see if there is any irritation. Not for a daily shave but maybe a Sunday morning treatment.

I just lather up and put the hot towel over that.
