One2mny,
It would seem that most persons that use oils as a pre-shave use natural oils - olive, jojoba, grape-seed etc.
These work easily into the lather when you apply it.
If you like, you can add said oils to the lather when you make it up - it is the equivalent of over-fatting the soaps in the shaving soap/cream.

Thanked: 44Baby oil works great if you don't mind the perfume. Straight up mineral oil is good if not. I tend to not bother with the "oh no you wouldn't rub crude oil on your face LOL" anti-mineral-oil folks.

My oldest brush is now about 40 years old and regularly used with lather to which I added olive oil. No problem at all. So far.
