I was reading a thread a long while back that asked if you used AS first or balm. Was kind of surprised to see many went balm then after shave. I am of the mind that the alcohol would wash away any effect the balm had. On the other hand the AS would dry up before the balm hit the skin. Just a thought with no scientific proof :<0)

I've used The Real Shaving Compay's Post Shave Soothing Balm for years. They have a wide variety of balms but I prefer the "Moisturising skincar formula". It has virtually no scent to interfere with anything else that you might use. Institut Karite after shave balm is also very good. It too has a very little scent, like a very light talcum powder-like odor.

If alcohol is a problem it's time to switch to a balm.
