Drying my skin out..
Ok guys have experimented with many different products.. But what I'm noticing lately is anything alcohol based is drying my face out..I've even noticed witch hazel is based or contains alcohol .. I know there is one without .. I'm gonna have to switch.. Can u guys point me to a product most preferably a splash.. Without alcoholI love clubman but guess what alcohol.. I usually use witch hazel followed by a moisturizing after shave balm then clubman..

Not a splash though..Bjoernar

I use my alcohol based splashes all year round, but in the winter I also use a moisturizing cream. That solves the problem for me.

For the most part AS will contain Alcohol. A few contain witch hazel instead but of course all witch hazel I've seen contains some Alcohol though it may be minimal. The balms can be found and they contain little or none. Some of the Nivea range of products are pretty good.
Are you sure it's the alcohol that's doing it and not the weather or some other factor? No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 1263I think you'll be hard pressed to find an aftershave splash that doesn't contain alcohol. On the colder days I'll switch to a balm like T&H…have heard Trumpers Skin Food works wonders as well.

Thanked: 1184I was reading a thread a long while back that asked if you used AS first or balm. Was kind of surprised to see many went balm then after shave. I am of the mind that the alcohol would wash away any effect the balm had. On the other hand the AS would dry up before the balm hit the skin. Just a thought with no scientific proof :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

I've used The Real Shaving Compay's Post Shave Soothing Balm for years. They have a wide variety of balms but I prefer the "Moisturising skincar formula". It has virtually no scent to interfere with anything else that you might use. Institut Karite after shave balm is also very good. It too has a very little scent, like a very light talcum powder-like odor.

Thanked: 1195If alcohol is a problem it's time to switch to a balm.

What works for one type of skin will probably not work for another .
What I find that works for me and I stick to is a shave routine that starts with a warm water rinse; lathering; shaving; rinse; Alum; rinse; toner/ aftershave; and then a balm/moisturiser.
(Wash; Exfoliate; Alum/antibiotic; Tone; Moisturise).
