Default Shaving oil vs beard oil

    Hey guys.. New question

I mostly wear a goatee. Shaved it off for a couple of years as I taught myself SR shaving, but really now it's back and SRs help me a lot maintain its shape and I still enjoy wet shaving the rest of my face.

Anyway.. What's the difference between shaving oil and beard oil? Are they similar or interchangeable?

I ask because I would like to start oiling my goatee and wanted to figure if I have to purchase beard oil or is my shaving oil sufficient?

    Thanks in advance.

He jokingly referred to two viscosity grades of motor/engine oil.

I use them interchangeably. My favorite oil for my beard is a 2:1 mix of Almond oil and Vit. E oil. I just mix them in my hand for now but am planning on making a Bayrum scented beard oil very soon.

In the past, I've used pomade for my goatee, to keep it in check. Mine tends to get unruly. If your not familiar, Pomade is like a wax. I'd use a hot cloth to help soften and work it in with a small comb. Not sure if your looking for the conditioning or the overall neat look. Pomade works well for keeping a Goatee neat looking.
