Thanked: 7Pores have oil.
My last two shaves I took a step backwards. I used the preshave oil from the art of shaving. I thought it would make the blade slide smoother. It did the opposite. Made my face feel a little sticky, and also the shaving cream and hairs wer sticking to the blade. I bought the oil off of eBay. Does it go bad overtime? Are there better pre shave oils that I should try? Or should I just forget about pre shave oils all together?
Thanks for your input

Thanked: 4827That like many things is kind of a personal preference thing. All oils that are not petroleum based will go rancid, eventually. I have tried pre shave oil and did not like what it added to my shave. I went to Proraso pre shave and it was nice on the skin and added a little glide. I then went to Noxema and it was about the same. There is also Castle and Forbes that is really quite pricey but gets the best reviews. I have also heard of some that use hair conditioner. It is best to try some things until you find your groove.

Thanked: 7I hope that the oil did go bad. It makes no seance to me at all why anyone one would use it if that's how it works

The AoS preshave oil is thick and if you use more than about a dime sized amount it will make a sticky mess on your face and blade. It will hold up through more than one pass of the razor though.

Thanked: 7I definitely used more then a dime size amount. Maybe I'll give it another shot using a lot less. But at this point I don't see the point of it

Also, make sure your face is wet. You want a small amount spread evenly over the whiskers.
Like Rezdog, I did not find AoS Pre-shave oil to noticeably enhance my shave. If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.
