Thanked: 3226Never had an aftershave last long. Most disappear to me within an hour at best. I have to use an EdT or cologne to get a lasting scent effect.

Jovan Musk... that's quite a blast from the past!
That was my favorite scent for many years during my youth. I hadn't thought about it in a long time; I wonder if I'd still like it.When you are dead, you don't know that you are dead. It's difficult only for the others.
It's the same when you are stupid.

It's not an old classic, but Wm. Neumann & Co's "1911" fragrance has a classic character to it, and has prompted a few queries at work. I find that bay rums (which are pretty darned classic!) elicit compliments as well.

Thanked: 1081I wear Brut and Old Spice, classics that will hopefully be around forever. The wife favours them over pretty much all the over priced new ones, some of which smell no better than toilet cleaner.

Thanked: 0I'm a Stetson man myself for AS. First smelled it when my dad was shaving the morning before a week long horse ride in Tennessee. Many years later when I could shave, that was the first purchase I made. Nothing for me beats that strong "earth"/"woodsy" smell.

Thanked: 118I rotate almost daily through several fragrances. About half of the fragrances have been on the market pre-70s
About 2 to 3 months into my new job I had noticed the female traffic had increased in my part of the building. I am both over 50 and carry a few pounds more than I should so I was sure it wasn't me. One day I overheard a female coworker whose office is adjacent to mine ask the ladies why the keep passing by. They told her it's "because this end of the building smells so good". None of the other 4 people in my area of the office commonly wear any scents.
Since then I have had two complements in the office. One was Old Spice and the other was Brut.May your lather be moist and slick, the sweep of your razor sure, and your edge always keen!

English Leather and Canoe were two of my old (60's) favorites.

Thanked: 11My wife keeps buying me the new stuff, I keep wearing the old..
I have a theory: the old stuff was stronger to cover the now less popular booze and tobacco smells...
