Thanked: 3226Old classics still have a draw
Put on some Dunhill for Men EdT before going out to the grocery store today. Got a surprise when a a woman with a child in tow excused herself and asked if I minded that she had to tell me she thought I smelled good. Nearly fell over, that is a rare occurrence. Say what you want but the old classic standards still have a draw. Not bad for a scent that has been around since 1934. The only other time this has happened to me was when I was wearing Tabc, another classic from 1959. Gotta love the oldies.

Hey Bob!
Years ago I was given, in a pile of shaving gear from some deceased relative, a bottle of Jovan Musk aftershave. I just stuck it in a drawer thinking it was a little too.. I don't know, feminine maybe. One day years later, I chanced upon it and decided to try it. On the second day I went to the bank and happened to hold the door for a rather attractive young lady. As she passed by she paused and asked me what aftershave that was. After I told her she looked up, flashed a grin, and said, "Well, it shouldn't smell that good!" and went on into the bank.
Well!
That was all I wore for about the next ten years.
Yep, I'm still a fan of the classics.

I have a bottle of Stetson from the 70's. Don't use too much, it seems strong for my taste.
Every time I use it someone likes it, though. Go figure."Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

I have had this happen to me a few times. I wear Paul Sebastian. It is from 1979 originally. SWMBO likes it also so that is a plus!
Funny story how I came to know about it.
We went to dinner at Salvatores Italian Gardens and Russell Salvatore was wearing it. I asked what it was because SWMBO liked it.
Now he is around 80yrs. old and told me I would get "lucky" if I wore it.
Who am I to question such wisdom.

Do you guys think perhaps that the old ones were stouter? Might be they get stronger and smoother with age, like whiskey and wine? I am usually a Proraso or AQV guy. They fade. Some of the old stuff stays too long for MY taste.
Others don't tell me it is too strong. They just like it. Maybe it is stronger to ME than to them.
After all, my nose is closer. Some stuff others like a lot makes my eyes water!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

I think like everything we get used to the smell and maybe put a little extra on after a while. This is probably why it seems stong to others.
I make sure to only put 1 spray on as I stayed to do 2-3 as I got accustumed to it. Something about a french lady of the night....lol

Thanked: 3226Dunno, got a bush whacker mentality, if you're gonna wear it wear it strong. Always 2 spritzes and 1 for good measure.

I agree Bob, I probably over apply my colognes when I wear them, but I want to smell them for as long as possible. I also like the fact that some of my sweaters carry the fragrance for a day or two.

You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.
