    Question Nivea Aftershave Balm Cooling

    Hi gents,

I have been trying Nivea Sensitive Skin Cooling Aftershave Balm for my post-shave routine. Although it leaves my skin smooth and hydrated, I bought it to chase the "cooling" effect that it claims to deliver. I have found that there is absolutely no cooling effect with this balm. I have tried it after applying witch hazel and without, and have experienced no cooling sensation whatsoever. I am wondering if I got a bottle made on a Friday, or if I maybe need to rub it in more or change the way that I am applying it? Anyone's thoughts if you have used this product?

I wonder why it is advertised as "Cooling" when it isn't. False advertising. Needs more menthol in it perhaps?

It’s cooling - if you’ve got razor burn. Otherwise, it’s just a balm.

I’ve been using this for the past year. Cooling was minimal, but I upped it nicely with menthol crystals. It’s a favorite.

Just today, I added Osage rub to their regular balm. We’ll see tomorrow how that works out.

Yup, I think that is about right.

You want cooling get yourself some Thayers medicated Witch Hazel. It's potent stuff and great for your skin. An alternative is Meisner Tremonia Ice menthol aftershave and the matching soap too. With that your skin will feel like it spent to much time in the freezer.

The Nivea balm is good for windburned or a sunburned face, then you will fully appreciate its hydrating effects.

Nivea is a good, ubiquitous balm at a relatively low cost. I've liked all incarnations I've tried well enough, save for Cool
Kick. It works just fine, but smells like a bad mosquito repellent, tossed it when I moved last month after maybe five uses in three years (same with Mennen Skin Bracer, by the way. Can't stand it).
