Being a Bay Rum fanatic, with the demise of the classic Dominica Bay Rum, I've been looking for replacements/alternatives.

The Grand Bay bay rum from the same company is decent, but just isn't the same as their original Dominica Bay Rum. Flat and not as complex, and doesn't last as long.

I already like Ogallala Bay Rum, particularly the Limes & Peppercorns. As close to perfect as it is, it still has more of a clove note than I want. Other than the clove, great.

Captain's Choice and Cat O' Nine Tails loses the clove note, and are great, but they just don't last like Dominica did. Other than that, they are great too.

But the most amazing replacement I've found is Barberry Coast No.28 Bay Rum Aftershave. Amazing complex scent, citrus, cinnamon and vanilla notes. I like it better than any Bay Rum I've tried. The only problem is, it's almost $40 for a 4 oz bottle(!). And as good as it smells, it still doesn't last all day the way Ogallala does. But the Barberry Coast Bay Rum Cologne (which I haven't tried) is like $100 per 4 oz. bottle. For that kind of money, I'll stick with Creed scents.

The Barberry Coast No.28 Bay Rum Aftershave is honestly the best Bay Rum I've ever used. And barring any alternatives, it's what I'll end up using, high price and all. But has anybody found anything close to the complexity of this scent, but with a lower price and more lasting power?
