    Default Thayers Witch Hazel

    Hello

I ran across some Thayers witch hazel at the drug store in a nice lavender scent. I have read that guys use witch hazel for after shave. Is this true

I have never used it but yes this is true. And Thayers is one of the more liked witch hazels.
I've seen it on the ingredient list of some of my aftershaves, I think may have been Floris and Penhaligon.

Yes, for some guys, this might be OK. One of the main purposes of witch hazel is to reduce inflammation and sooth the freshly-shaved skin. I have the Thayers lavender and will probably use it till it's gone, but I won't buy it again!! A little too "grandmotherly-smelling" for my taste!!The standard "plain" witch hazel, even generic, smells better!! All I need the WH to do is calm down the skin a bit before the AS goes on.

I use the Thayers Original Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera and I quite like it. Takes a good bit of the sting away without a heavy scent. Although, my wife does suggest that it tastes 'yucky'.

Try the Thayers Lemon Witch Hazel. The lemon masks the scent of the underlying Witch Hazel very well.

The lemon scent is light enough that it will not compete with your aftershave of choice, either.

I am a HUGE fan of the Thayer's Superhazel. It has peppermint oil along with the other ingredients the others contain. I find the scents of the others not so great. I agree the rose and the lavender smell like a grandma. The peach and lemon are better, but the lemon reminds me a little of Pine Sol. The scent of the Superhazel fades almost immediately. Of course, this is only my opinion. You can't go wrong with any of the Thayer's.

    Default i like the origional

I like the origional. Not for the scent,It's nice but has a persistance of about a minute. It is an astrigant that closes up the pores, also has a great effect on soothing the skin.

Is there a big difference between the original and the unscented?

i like the thayers witch hazel because it doesn't burn, no alcohol. as far as scents, i've only had the rose water scent. i dig it. plus, i think it's a little cheaper than the rose water that the art of shaving sells. so for the sensitive skin folk, or those that just prefer no tingle, this is the stuff.
