I've seen it in the odd store here and there, but no chains that I can think of. I get mine here (along with some hot sauce):

California-Antilles Trading: Bay Rum, Hot Sauce, & Salsa

Ooo! And I just noticed they now have a mentholated Dominica Bay Rum!! Hey now! I'm gonna try some of that.

    Default good stuff

I'm pretty new to all this straight razor stuff and never gave a thought to bay run until reading about it here. But while out shopping I took a whiff of the tester in the orvis store and thought "whoa!". I got both the regular bay rum and the lime version. I think I like the regular bay rum better, but they are both good I think.

Also my Ogallala sampler is in the mail now so looking forward to giving that a try too.

    Default St. John's

The only bay rum I have ever used is the St. John's brand. I like it and have received a lot of compliments from friends.

I like to use bay rum in colder weather and a lime scent during the hot months.

I plan to try Pusser's in the future as it has an excellent reputation.

IIRC, Restoration Hardware carried Dominica. If not, SRD has a good price, but California Antillies had/has a sale on two bottles.
I strop my razor with my eyes closed.

Default You might try Master Bay Rum

I started with Ogalalla and it is still my favorite. It has "complexity" but not much "linger". Then I tried Pinaud. It has a strong cinnamon aroma and more alcohol so more burn. I picked up a bottle of Master at a Sally Beauty Supply - ~$7. It is really mellow and mostly all Bay. After the Pinaud, it was pretty non-descript (sort of like ketchup after tobasco) but it really grew on me. It has glycerin in it so much less burn and has a really mild scent that lingers into the day.

Don't forget to try Superioir 70 Bay Rum - it's a true bay leaf scent with a little price tag.
They also make a mentholated version which had pine oil added and smells like christmas!
Also why not try the clubman bayrum - it doesn't seem to have any bay leaf oil in it but is a complex scent which smells EXACTLY (to my unschooled nose) like bay rum but breaks down into cinnamon, lemon, and clove - a really nice medley.

    Cheers!
