    Default Bay rum

I would like to buy a Bay rum scented aftershave. I am currently looking at the Domminica Bay Rum offered by Orvis (among others). Can you suggest other similar or better products?

    Thanks,

    Al raz.

I would suggest before splurging on a bottle to stop by your favorite barber shop and see if they will give you a "splash" on the face after a haircut or shave to see how you (and more importantly your significant other) like the fragrance.

Bay Rum is sort of a love it or hate it kind of aroma and that bottle of Dominica lasts a LONG time...especially if SWMBO hates it!

Not sure about the Domica but Capt Smith's is great!

I bought the Dominica out of curiosity. My wife hated L'Occitane Cade (I really liked it... but the scent lasts all day, like a cologne, which I didn't like). When I got the Bay Rum, I gave it a whiff and thought what a weird scent. I knew my wife would hate this, too. However, it smells very different on your skin than it does in the bottle. I love it. It's fantastic and feels great. For some really strange reason, my wife loves it, too... go figure.

But now my problem is I want to try other Bay Rums... here we go... I ordered Ogallala Bay Rum and will order the Capt Smith's and Carribean Bay Rum with Lime. I just can't help it.

The Dominica gets my vote too. Its the most "pure" bay rum I've come across. Royall Bay Rhum is in the same league, but its more expensive. If you decide to get any Royall products, shop the price, as I've seen it vary widely.

I really like the Royall and Pusser's. I also like this Imperial bay rum which seems to be somewhat obscure but I love it. Bay Rum Facial Splash and After Shave Lotion

Are the Imperial and Pusser's more the "bay leaf" scent or do they lean more toward the cinnamon and clove type?

It seems like Dominica is a good choice of Bay rum, thanks for the input. Now the question is: besides Orvis, are there other chain stores (improving my chances for availability nearby) that carry it? I prefer not to order online unless it is absolutely necessary.

BTW, I am not new to the scent, only the brands.
