After AfterShave?
So I soak with a hot towel. Lather and wait. Shave (obviously). Rinse with cold water. Pat dry. Apply aftershave.
My skin is turning out to be a little dry after the routine. What can I apply post shave to help bring moisture back to the skin, and is there a reccommended waiting time to apply some type of moisturizer after the aftershave (due to the closing of the pores)?
Any help is helpful.

Any moisturizer will do. I've used a few LUSH products to my great delight.

Thanked: 155My advice is to dump the aftershave. It is probably alcohol based and it will dry your skin.

Thanked: 7I use Nivea for Men Aftershave Balm about every 3rd shave or whenever I notice my skin feeling quite dry. It is a moisturizer but it soaks in very quickly, it’s not bank breaking and it also has a very nice masculine scent so you don’t feel like you’ve raided the wife’s makeup cabinet and you don’t have a shiny greasy face afterwards.

I use Neutrogena Triple Protect Face Lotion during the day. Not oily and has SPF. You can get it anywhere.
I use whatever face stuff my wife has that week for when I shave at night. She's always recommending something. It's good she doesn't like any fragrance. Last week it was some stuff called Zia. They sell it at Whole Foods. Good stuff. I don't like anything oily.

I've been using clean and clear moisturizer as the first pat of my prep the last couple of days and it seems to be working out quite well for me. There might find some good recommendations if you do a search for the oil cleansing method.

If you like the smell of your aftershave...
You could try a high quality scent free Aftershave Balm Like Mama Bear's with no scent or the scent free Art of Shaving stuff (pricey but very moisturizing). If you go this route after using your chosen/favorite Aftershave you could help alleviate the moisture loss and get the scent you like.
Hope some of this is helpful!

If you enjoy the alcohol aftershave, keep using it. I do. In dryer weather, like now, I'll apply a balm or light moisturizer. I usually wait 10 minutes or so after the a/s splash - say while getting dressed, etc.
There are many balms out there that work well. Some of my favorites are Proraso liquid cream (its named something like that) or QED, or even Trumper Skin Food, if the weather isn't too dry. See what works for you.

Last night i got creative and came up with something that worked out really well for my shave thismorning. I mixed 2 parts AS to one part Vitamen E oil, shook vigorously and applied as AS and *Voila* did great.

Good deal. I should have mentioned another trick. You can mix a small amount of glycerin (found at just about any pharmacy) into your a/s splash. I did this with my Dominica Bay Rum because it was leaving me a little dry. It doesn't make it moisturize like a balm, but it does leave you much more supple than some a/s alone.
The 444 balm that Leon is selling is also a good additive for a/s. I think there are reviews of it on the site.
